My name is Emma Roy, I am a second-year student majoring in Finance and Accounting. When I’m not busy studying you can find me outdoors skiing, spending time with friends or reading. I currently live in Bromont, Quebec however I moved around during my youth and resided in both Ontario and Texas. I was also lucky to have been in both the French and English curriculum to fluently adapt both languages. When it came to choosing which University to attend, JMSB’s reputation internationally as well as my love for the city of Montreal was an easy first choice. Throughout this current academic year, I was fortunate to be part of FISA as the Vice President of External Affairs. Through this experience, I learned about several aspects of our subsidiary, developed a love for providing students with outstanding events as well as creating relationships with industry partners. As President, I plan to continue to create and offer students a large variety of events both online and in person and to broaden their network within JMSB and with highly qualified industry professionals. As a student in University, I observed it is not always easy to apply what we learn in the classroom in real world situations which pushed me to get more involved in student life and provide opportunities to learn real world business skills. My most memorable experiences from University have stemmed from my involvement in student life and I want as many students as possible to grow and learn from these events and workshops. As the upcoming president I have 3 main goals which are to 1) Connect JMSB students to the financial industry through networking events and workshops. 2) To provide students with a more enriched student experience by connecting them to like-minded JMSB individuals and 3) To highlight the countless opportunities finance offers us outside of the classroom and better prepare them for the business world. I believe that I am the best candidate for FISA president, with my combined experience on FISA’s Executive team as well as my real-life work experience in corporate finance at GE. I am so excited to see what the next year has in store for us and hopefully I will be able to pass you all in the JMSB hallways maskless and maybe even shake your hands.
